OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City North had four players score in double figures Tuesday (Feb. 3) as the Panthers stayed unbeaten in 6A-3 play with a 73-48 homecoming rout of Muskogee.
North jumped out early to put the game out of reach.
North coach DJ Lemons gave props to the Panther crowd, including the famous”Zoo” student section.
“It was such an incredible environment,” Lemons said via text. “I thought our guys really helped with the defense and how we played on that end, it got the crowd going.
“From the get-go, you could just feel a special environment and its credit to all the students. I’m really thankful for that.”
Junior Miles Jackson scored a game-high 16 points with five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Fellow junior Mekhi Thomas added 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers.
Sophomore CJ Heskett followed with 12 points. Fellow sophomore Devion Gillispie finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and an assist.
Sophomore Keaton Murry scored six of his eight points in the third quarter. Senior Nate Muriithi scored six points and had six rebounds.
“The defense was good, could be better,” Lemons said. “They missed some shots, but I thought the talk and the switching was terrific. Proud of this win, proud of the effort.”
Muskogee junior James Smith paced the Roughers with 15 points. Smith connected on a five 3-pointers.
