OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City North girls basketball coach Logan Martin was honored Tuesday (Feb. 3) for her 100th win as the Panthers got by Muskogee 44-37.

The rematch between the top two teams in 6A-3 was tight again. North had a 5-point lead at halftime (21-16). The Roughers pulled within two points (21-19) early in the third quarter.

North extended the lead with a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer from senior Paige Williams, with an assist from fellow senior Kiana Gray.

Senior Makiya Moore added a bucket. North pushed the pace after a Muskogee bucket. Senior Jayla Constant threw a baseball pass down the court for Gray for an easy score. From there, North kept a 5-7 point lead for the rest of the quarter.

That pattern continued midway in the fourth quarter as the Panthers struggled at the free throw line.

Like she did in overtime of the first meeting between these teams, Gray drained a 3-pointer, this time from the corner to extend North’s lead to 10 points (40-30) with 3:07 left in the game.

The Panthers got the lead up to 14 with just under two minutes to play.

The Roughers went on a 7-0 run to end the game, largely from free throws.

Senior Da’Nae Jefferson paced North with 13 points. Jefferson scored six points in the fourth quarter. Jefferson had three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Constant added 11 points, eight in the first quarter. She had five rebounds and four assists.

Williams had seven points, three rebounds and two steals. Gray followed with five points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Muskogee sophomore Elexis Holmes scored a game-high 29 points with three 3-pointers. Elexis is one of three Holmes sisters on the roster playing for their dad, Eric, the Roughers’ head coach. Elexis scored nine points in the fourth quarter.
