BETHANY — After returning to game action from the holiday break, Bethany saw a new defensive look from Blanchard in their contest Tuesday (Jan. 6).
The Bronchos adjusted after a tight first quarter en route to a 58-38 rout.
“Blanchard tried some things we had not seen from the opposing team,” Sailer said. “They ran some other defenses to try to frustrate us,” Sailer said via text. “We had several girls step up and hit some big shots for us. I was proud of our efforts.”
Junior Camryn Regier led the Bronchos with 15 points. Regier notched a double-double with 14 rebounds.
Seniors McKenna Calderon scored 14 point from hot outside shooting. Calderon was 4-of-9 from the 3-point line. She also had four assists and two steals.
Fellow senior Maddison McNutt added 12 points. McNutt was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Junior Ali Linn was dealing with an illness but was challenged by Sailer and the coaching staff to hit double-digits with her rebound total.
Linn grabbed 11 boards to go with seven points and a blocked shot.
“I was proud of how she battled,” Sailer said.
“This was a good game back from break for us. We spent the break focusing on blocking out and offensive execution,” Sailer said. “At times we played really well, at times our decision making was not at its best. But, that is something that we can continue to work on to improve.”
