DUNCAN — Bethany mounted a fourth-quarter comeback and beat Mount St. Mary in overtime, 61-57, Saturday (Dec. 13) to win the Southern Oklahoma Invitational championship.

The Bronchos trailed 46-36 at the end of the third quarter but went on a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 48-48. The run was punctuated by a steal and fast break bucket from senior Denton Jaggers to tie the game with 4:44 left.

After a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer from Mount St. Mary junior Maddox Hamilton gave the Rockets a 51-48 lead, the Broncho offense began to stall. That led to stall-ball as MSM tried to drain the clock.

The Bronchos finally broke through when sophomore Rhett Brobston scored on another steal and a fast break bucket to make it 51-50 at the 1:59 mark.

Eventually, Bethany was forced to foul. Hamilton sank two free throws with :23 left for a 53-50 lead.

Probst then drained a 3-pointer with six seconds left to tie the game.

The Bronchos took control in overtime. Jaggers had a couple of buckets and sophomore Dempsy Neal split two free throws for a 58-53 lead.

Another bucket from Jaggers and a free throw from Neal were enough to seal the win.

Sophomore Breck Brady and Neal earned all-tournament honors and Jaggers was named tournament MVP.
