PIEDMONT — Putnam City ended the District 6A-4 part of the regular season with a pair of losses to Piedmont Tuesday (Sept. 23).

PIEDMONT 15, PUTNAM CITY 1

The Wildcats scored eight runs in the first inning and the rout was on.

Freshman D’Najah Jarrell scored the Pirates’ lone run. Jarrell led off the top of the second inning with a walk. Junior Alexandra Hatlelid singled and Jarrell went from first to third. Jarrell stole home and Hatlelid stole. PC struck out twice to end the inning.

 Junior Samantha Tidmore and Madi Gossman each had a hit in the loss.

Another strong start by the Wildcats led to a four-inning run-rule.

For the Pirates, Gossman, sophomore Tess Goodner and Jarrell each had a hit. Gossman’s hit was a double.

PC batters struck out eight times in the loss.
