

BETHANY — Bethany’s boys soccer team overcame a slow start for a 3-1 win over Skiatook Thursday (May 9) in the Class 4A state quarterfinals at Southern Nazarene’s Wes Harmon Field.
After falling behind 1-0, senior Ruslan Calderon scored off a corner kick to tie the game up before halftime.
Junior Eli Marquez scored the go-ahead goal in the second half.
“He played one of his best halves of soccer that I’ve seen him play,” Williams said of Marquez.
Senior Amani Bryant added some insurance to make it 3-1.
Bryant returned to the pitch Tuesday in Bethany’s win over Harding Prep.
“He had just a clinical finish,” Williams said of Bryant.

Bethany (12-4) hosts Hilldale (15-1) Tuesday (May 13) at 8 p.m. at SNU’s Wes Harmon Field.
After opening the season with a loss to 5A Southeast, the Hornets reeled off 15 straight wins, including a 2-1 win over Clinton Tuesday in the the quarterfinals.
