OKLAHOMA CITY — Bethany senior Charlie Tolle broke a 7-7 tie in the fifth inning with an RBI-double to beat Mount Saint Mary, 8-7, Friday (April 25) in a 4A non-district game.

With the win, the Bronchos finish the regular season at 23-5.

Tolle’s double to left field scored sophomore Cooper Willis, who led off the fifth inning with a ground ball up the middle for a single.

Each team started fast, both scoring four runs in the first inning.

Bethany started the game with four straight singles and had six total for the inning.

The Rockets answered with senior Harry Tesio’s grand slam over the left field wall in the bottom half of the inning.

Bethany retook the lead in the second inning on an RBI-double by. junior Karter Thomas. He scored fellow junior Judson Gilliland, who led off the inning with a single. Senior Andrew Taber extended the lead with a groundout, scoring Tolle, who walked.

The Bronchos made it 7-4 in the third inning thanks to a Mount Saint Mary error. Tolle reached on an outfield error and that scored senior Layton Reither, who had singled.

The Rockets tied the game in the fourth inning as Bethany committed two errors, hit a batter, walked a batter and gave up a hit.

Both Thomas and Willis were each 3-for-4. Gilliland and Tolle were each 2-for-4.

The Bronchos had 14 hits and every starter but one had a basehit.
