WARR ACRES — Millwood walked off with a 5-4 win over Putnam City on the Pirates’ home field Friday (April 4) at the Dawgz of the South tournament.
Original (2-14) hosted the first two days of the event because of their turf field. Both Santa Fe South and Capitol Hill’s grass fields were unplayable due to rain.
Tied at 4-4 to begin the bottom of the fifth and with a runner placed on second base as tie breaking rules were in effect, a Putnam City error scored the run for the Falcon win.
Sophomores Bryson Vanover, Jared Potter and senior Henry Plata each had a hit. Potter had a double \.
PC hitters walked seven times and struck out six times in the loss.
The Pirates stole 11 bases. Senior Lukas Poindexter stoled three bases and Vanover and Potter each stole two.
Senior Andrew Simon pitched four innings, allowing four hits and five runs (four of them earned). He walked three batters and struck out seven.

The Pirates (2-15, 0-4) meet Moore (12-7, 3-2) in a 6A-2 matchup Monday (April 7) at 5 p.m.
