OKLAHOMA CITY — Kingfisher sprinted out to a big lead in a 13-7 win over Western Heights Monday (March 17).

The Yellowjackets (1-4 in Class 4A) scored five runs in the first inning. The Jets (1-5) committed five errors in the inning (and 12 for the game).

Western Heights got a run back in the bottom half of the inning on two Yellow Jacket errors to make it 5-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, senior Caden Wiebusch singled in senior Jacob Bohnstedt, who had reached on an error to make it 5-2.

The Jackets added a run in the top of the fourth on a Jet error to make it 6-2.

In the fourth inning, junior first baseman Connor Logsdon doubled to left field, scoring junior Keziah Lofton, who had singled. Senior Jake Bogle singled in Logsdon. Bohnstedt hit a fly ball to left field and reached on an error which scored Bogle and the Jets trailed, 6-5.

Kingfisher followed with seven runs over the next three innings with extra-base hits and Jets errors to make 13-5.

In the seventh inning, Wiebusch was hit by a pitch and Junior shortstop Akin Aguillard followed with an infield single. An outfield error and a ground out scored Wiebusch and Aguillard to make it 13-7.

Aguillard went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Logsdon was 1-for-4 with a double a two runs batted in. The Jets struck out 12 times in the loss.

UP NEXT

Western Heights (1-5, 0-4) hosts El Reno (5-0, 4-0) in a 5A-1 doubleheader next Monday (April 24) at 4:30 p.m.

The Indians host Class B Leedey Friday (March 21) before playing the Jets.
