
WARR ACRES — Putnam City overcame a slow start to pull close against Edmond Memorial by halftime Monday (Feb. 17), but the Lady Pirates couldn’t overcome a surge by the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter of a 63-42 contest in 6A-1 action.
The Lady Pirates were in a 17-4 hole after one quarter, but turned things around in the second quarter, outscoring Edmond Memorial, 16-8. At halftime, Memorial held a 25-20.
In that second quarter, Kayla Hill and Paishintz Booker made the most of their Senior Night. Hill had six of her 10 points in the first half. Booker scored all eight of her points in the second quarter rally.
Junior Chariyah Williams also also added a 3-pointer in the second quarter. She finished with seven points for the game.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs took control, outscoring PC, 20-7, en route to the win.
Sophomore and I’leeya Combs and senior Tionna Johnson each added five points in the loss.
UP NEXT
Putnam City finished the regular season at 7-21 and 6-8 in District 6A-1 play. The Lady Pirates finish fifth in the district.
The regional playoffs begin Feb. 27.
