DEL CITY — Bethany returned from the holiday break with a 50-25 win over Destiny Christian Friday (Jan. 3).

Beside the point totals, other important numbers to Bethany coach Eric Sailer were the rebounding numbers. The Lady Bronchos outrebounded Destiny Christian, 32-16.

“(Outrebounding the opponent) is huge for our team right now!!!,” Sailer said via text. “We are still struggling to shoot the ball from the 3-point line, so extra opportunities for us is super important!!!”

Senior Kayten Donley scored a game-high 17 points with eight rebounds, five steals and three blocks.

Sophomore Ali Linn added seven points including a 3-pointer. Fellow sophomore Camryn Regier had six points, eight rebounds and five steals in the win.

“We are still working on taking care of the ball,”Sailer said. The Bethany coach said that his team’s 12 turnovers were “not too bad.”

“But we need to do better to maximize every possession.”

Sailer said juniors Reese Harris, McKenna Calderon, senior Lauren Koonce, Linn, and Kayten Donley are doing a good job of handling the ball.

Koonce finished with six points, including Bethany’s other trey.

Sailer is looking for consistency in his team’s defense.

“At times, we do a great job, then other times we break down too easily!!!” Sailer said. “We have to get better, especially when we play the top ranked teams!!!”

UP NEXT

The seventh-ranked Lady Bronchos travel to Blanchard Tuesday (Jan. 7) at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Lions are are 4-4. Their last game was a 42-33 win over 5A Noble on Dec. 20.
