SAPULPA – Second-ranked Bethany held off sixth-ranked Regent Prep, 3-1, in the quarterfinals of the Class 6A Volleyball State Championship Thursday (Oct. 17).
The Lady Bronchos moved on, 25-14, 25-22, 8-25, 25-19. After a relatively easy first set, the second set was a back-and-forth affair. The Rams controlled the third set which led to a hard talk in the huddle from Bethany coach Kerri Cagle.
“We said in the huddle that we needed to screw our heads on and play our game at our pace,” Cagle said via text. “We needed to control each point.”
Cagle said her team didn’t want to go to a fifth set, winning the fourth set to advance.
Senior outside hitter Jaidyn Reid had 24 kills, four blocks and six digs. Junior outside hitter Skylar Brady added 23 kills, three blocks and nine digs.
