BETHANY – The Lady Bronchos rebounded from a tough district loss Monday with a big district win Tuesday (Sept. 17), 7-2 over Woodward in 4A-1 action.
“They did a really good job coming back from yesterday’s disappointing game,” Bethany coach Booker Blakley said via text. “Still gives them an opportunity to potentially host a regional.”
Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning, the top of the Bethany lineup, which played a part in scoring the Lady Bronchos’ first two runs in the first inning, got to work. Senior Ireland Riley and junior Madison Bibbs each singled. After a pop-out, senior Grey Williamson singled home Riley. During the next at-bat, Bibbs scored on an error to make it 4-2.
In the fifth, the Lady Bronchos added some insurance runs. Bibbs and Williamson scored on a Boomer error. Junior Berkley Johnson scored on a single by junior Alyssa Daniels to make it 7-2.
Riley was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Bibbs also was 3-for-4. Williamson added a 2-for-3 day with two runs batted in. Junior Emma Buxton also went 2-for-3.
“We will go as far as the top of the lineup carries us,” Blakley said.
Bethany had 12 singles and did not produce an extra-base hit in the contest.
Junior Jayda Davis scattered six hits over four innings to get the win. She walked one batter and struck out three. Fellow junior Paige Sechrist pitched three scoreless innings, allowing three hits
