DEL CITY – Putnam City picked up a pair comeback wins Tuesday (Sept. 10) in the Del City Festival.

ENID 11, PUTNAM CITY 3

The Lady Pirates couldn’t overcome Enid’s seven-run first inning.

Despite the loss, Putnam City had nine hits. Sophomore Francis Meza went 3-for-3. Sophomore Tessa Goodner and Alexandra Hatlelid each went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Junior Dahlia Hickerson finished 1-for-3 and had PC’s only extra-base hit with a double. Sophomore Maece Bourbonnais also went 1-for-3.

PUTNAM CITY 6, DEL CITY 5

The Lady Pirates scored three runs in the fourth inning to walk off host Del City on its home field (Putnam City was the designated home team).

Trailing 5-3 in the final inning, sophomores Natalie Luevano and Bourbonnais each singled. Fellow Sophomore Samantha Tidmore laid down an bunt to third base for a single, scoring Luevano to make it 5-4.

Up came Goodner, who walked off Union with a triple the day before.

This time, the sophomore doubled to left field, scoring Bourbonnais and Tidmore, cementing another comeback.

Goodner went 3-for-3 with with two doubles. Bourbonnais added a 2-for-3 performance. She also drove in two runs.

Goodner struck out five, earning her first win of the year.

PUTNAM CITY 11, OKC BRONCOS 10

After taking a five-run lead in the first inning and losing it because of a Bronco seven-run second inning, Putnam City had more late-inning heroics.

Trailing 7-6 with two outs in the fourth inning, the Broncos chose to intentionally walk Goodner. After both runners moved up on a passed ball, an error scored two runs to give the Lady Pirates an 8-7 lead.

Bronco junior Rhianne Oaxaca took the lead back in the fifth with a two-run home run. The Broncos added another run for insurance taking advantage of an error.

Now trailing 10-8 in the bottom half of the fifth, junior Dahlia Hickerson and sophomore Lorelai Morales were both hit by pitches. Sophomore Addison Grier moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt. Hickerson scored on a wild pitch.

Bourbonnais reached on an infield error, scoring Morales to tie the game at 10-10.

Tidmore doubled to left field, scoring Bourbonnais for the second walkoff of the day.

UP NEXT

Putnam City (5-13) travels to 4A Bishop McGuinness (9-10) Thursday (Sept. 12). First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
