DEL CITY – Putnam City North won 1-of-2 games Monday (Sept. 9) at the Del City Festival.

PUTNAM CITY NORTH 6, OKC BRONCOS 4

The Lady Panthers rode a six-run first inning and held on for the win as the OKC Broncos scored a single run in all four innings.

North’s big inning was keyed by three singles, three walks and two Bronco errors.

Junior Mikala Coats and senior Monica Coats each went 1-for-2. Monica Coats also stole two bases and drove in two runs. Sophomore Savannah Martinez and freshman Kayleigh Andrews each had a hit. Andrews also had two RBIs.

ENID 6, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 4

North scored four runs in the final inning to mount a comeback but fell, 6-4.

Two Enid doubles in the bottom of the first inning built a 2-0 lead for the Pacers. Enid added four runs in the bottom of the third inning with two singles, a double and a Lady Panther error.

Junior Jayda Stevenson walked with one out in the fourth (and final) inning. Sophomore Kayla Orton was hit by a pitch and freshman Kayleigh Andrews walked to load the bases. Senior Kaylee Smith struck out looking for the second out.

Junior Mikala Coats walked in a run. Senior Raya Shawareb cleared the bases with a double to left field to cut the deficit to 6-4. Fellow seniors Monica Coats and Aubrey Miller each walked to load the bases again, puting the go-ahead run on base.

Sophomore Savannah Martinez flied to center field to end the game.

UP NEXT

North (4-9, 2-5) returns to 6A-2 action Tuesday (Sept. 9) at home against Sand Springs (8-7, 3-1). Admission will be free for students and the teams plans to have raffles in between innings. The theme is “white-out.” First pitch is at 5:30 p.m.
