WEATHERFORD – Bethany dropped its final two games of the Weatherford I-40 Classic Saturday (Aug. 17).

“I’m proud of the way they battled,” Bethany coach Booker Blakley said via text. “We have to find ways to win the close ones when we have the opportunity.”

Bethany had opportunities leaving five runners on base and collecting eight hits in the loss.

Tecumseh senior Jessi Hull scored the game’s only run on a home run over the right field fence in the fourth inning.

The Lady Bronchos threatened in the bottom half of the inning as junior Paige Sechrist doubled to center field. With two outs in the inning, sophomore Grey Williamson and junior Emma Buxton singled but Bethany couldn’t push across a run.

Both Sechrist and Williamson went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Junior Jayda Davis got the loss, despite scattering three hits in four innings and striking out three batters.

PLAINVIEW 4, BETHANY 3

Plainview scored three runs in the fifth inning to get past Bethany.

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Williamson sent a ball over the center field field fence for a three-run homer.

The Lady Bronchos held that lead until the fifth inning. A walk, two singles and an infield error led to three Plainview runs.

Bethany tried to rally with one out in the bottom half of the inning. Junior Madison Bibbs tripled to right. Sophomore Jules Barger singled but Bibbs was thrown out at home. Sechrist lined out to left field to end the game.

UP NEXT: The Lady Bronchos travel to Putnam City North Monday (Aug. 19). First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
