PONCA CITY – Putnam City North rebounded from being no-hit the day before to outhit Ponca City Friday (April 19), 4-3, but the Panthers couldn’t push any runs across, losing 2-0 in a non-district contest.

A run-scoring double to right field by Wildcat senior Titan Bute brought in Ponca’s first run in the fourth inning . In the fifth, Wildcat junior Jaxon Goddard walked, advanced to second on a groundout. Courtesy runner sophomore Ace McCloud scored on a single by fellow sophomore Kalen Covey.

North sophomore Owen Atterbery and and senior Cayden Stewart each went 1-for-3. Stewart had the Panthers’ lone extra base hit with a double.

Sophomore Gavin Lang and junior Rocco Carattini each went 1-for-2.

Lang pitched three hitless and scoreless innings but received a no-decision. Carattini took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in three innings of relief work. Each North pitcher struck out two batters.

UP NEXT: The Panthers (8-20, 3-9 in Class 6A District 2) host Mustang Monday (April 22) to begin their final district two-game series of the season. The Broncos return the favor Tuesday. Each games begins at 5 p.m.
