OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City North’s lone senior Cayden Swart was honored before Monday’s 14-4 win over Lawton Eisenhower.
Swart took the celebration to the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, two triples and a stolen base, driving in six runs in the rout.
Swart’s second triple ended the game early in the fifth inning, driving in three runs for the run-rule win.
“Cayden had a great night at the plate and controlled the game behind the dish,” Putnam City North Greg Johnson said via text. “His impact as a player is immeasurable. He is the true leader of the team.
“Being the only senior he has a lot of responsibility and I put a lot on him but I trust him completely. He is the ultimate team player and leads by example. It was great for him to end senior night the way he did. I am proud of him on and off the field.”
In all, the Panthers (7-18, 2-9 in Class 6A District 2) collected 11 hits. Sophomore Mitchell Taylor added a 2-for-4 day, scoring three times. All but two batters in the lineup got a hit and all but one player scored.
“It was a great win. Up and down the line up our offense had good at bats and did things we needed to get the win.,” Johnson said.
Junior Aaron Wall scattered five hits in five innings, walking five and striking out five to get the win on the mound.
UP NEXT: The Panthers head down the H.E. Bailey Turnpike to play at Lawton Eisenhower Tuesday (April 16) to complete the two-game district series. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
