PIEDMONT — Late runs, including a Piedmont home run, helped the Wildcats beat Putnam City North 6-2 Friday (May 1).

The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead in the first inning and built on it with runs in the fifth and sixth inning.

North scored a run in the first inning after senior Xayvion Jones scored on a sacrifice fly to center from fellow senior Austin Guerrero. Jones had led off the game with a single.

The 3-1 lead held until the fifth inning when Piedmont senior Jack Guinn hit a two-run homer over the left field wall.

The Panthers got one more run in the seventh inning.

Senior Robert Marcy led off the inning with single. He moved to second base on an error and to third on a wild pitch.

With two outs, Marcy scored on another wild pitch. One pitch later, Dansby struck out to end the game.
