GUTHRIE — Western Heights won its first game in the 5A slow-pitch softball district playoffs Wednesday (April 22) but fell twice to host Guthrie to end the season.

WESTERN HEIGHTS 17, CROOKED OAK 0

The Jets banged out 17 hits and scored 10 runs in the fourth inning for the run rule win.

Jalesa Simba went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs batted in. Abbie Bise, Aracena Martin, Aracena Martin, Khamiyah Laster and Julissa Richards each had two hits. Bise and Martin each had home runs.

Ann-Marie Bohnstedt allowed four hits in four scoreless innings. She walked two and struck out one.

GUTHRIE 11, WESTERN HEIGHTS 1

The Blue Jays scored six runs in the first inning and had a 10-0 lead when the Jets finally got on the scoreboard.

In the fifth inning, Laster tripled and scored on Richards’ single to left field.

Asimba, Martin, and Bohnstedt each had hits in the loss.

GUTHRIE 19, WESTERN HEIGHTS 2

Guthrie poured on the runs and hits to eliminate Western Heights.

The Jets led first with two runs in the first inning. Bise singled with one out and scored on Martin’s triple to right field. Brown singled to left to score Martin.

From there, Western Heights had three more hits and Guthrie had 22.

Asimba and Laster each had hits and Bise added another hit later in the game.
