
WARR ACRES — Putnam City won 1 of 3 contests while helping host the OKC Invitaitonal Thursday and Friday (April 2-3).
THURSDAY: RIVERSIDE 2, PUTNAM CITY
The Pirates loaded the bases in the seventh inning but couldn’t push a run across in a loss to the 2A1 Braves.
Trailing 2-1, senior Henry Thein walked, junior Jared Potter singled to left field. Freshman Dylan Grigsby struck out but sophomore Damon Hopkins walked.
Sophomore Gabe Krueger grounded to Riverside third baseman Taven Thrash who threw home for the force out. Freshman Braden Mongold struck out to end the game.
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, Grigsby walked and scored on a steal of home to tie the game.
Senior Justin Knight and Potter each had a hit.
Knight struck out 10 batters over five innings. He allowed one hit and an unearned run. Knight walked two batters.
Grigsby took the loss. He allowed a run and three hits over two innings. Grigsby struck out three.

Putnam City scored six runs in the sixth inning but the comeback fell short.
The Pirates walked five times in the final inning and took advantage of two Met errors. PC also had two singles in the outburst.
Junior Bryson Vanover and Knight each had two hits. Knight stole a base.
Grigsby also had a hit.
Senior Judd Quanstrom gave up three earned runs and four hits in three innings for the loss. He walked six batters and struck out four.

Putnam City took advantage of scoring opportunities in a run-rule win.
Grigsby was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Vanover, Thein and Hopkins each had hits. Vanover and Thein each had doubles. Thein and Hopkins each drove in two runs in the win.
Vanover earned the win. He struck out nine batters over three innings. Vanover allowed just one hit and walked one. Junior Easton Garcia retired the side in order in the fourth inning and had a strikeout.
