OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City fell twice to Westmoore, 12-2 and 6-2 in a 6A-1 doubleheader Thursday (Sept. 11).

WESTMOORE 12, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 2

The Jaguars banged out 14 hits in the win. Westmoore took an early lead and scored four runs in the sixth for the run-rule win.

North junior Savannah Martinez got the Panthers on the board first with an RBI double to left field in the first inning. That scored sophomore Kayleigh Andrews, who walked to lead off the game. Junior Presley Standridge laid down a sacrifice bunt to get Andrews to second base, setting up Martinez.

In the third inning, Andrews and Martinez both walked. Andrews reached third base on a passed ball and scored on an infield error on a ball hit by junior Laila Willoby.

Senior Jayda Stevenson led off the fourth inning with a triple but the Panthers couldn’t get a run across.

WESTMOORE 6, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 2

Westmore scored three runs over the first two innings for an early lead and then three more runs over the last two innings to pull away from North.

Trailing 3-0, Stevenson led off the second with a home run over the left field wall.

Stevenson drove in the other run in the fifth on an RBI-single that scored Willoby, who had singled earlier in the inning. North trailed, 3-2, before the Jaguars extended the lead.

Stevenson and Willoby were both 2-for-4 for the game. Standridge, Martinez, junior Kayla Orton and freshman Amaya Frazier each had a hit.
