BETHANY — Another day, another shutout for the Bronchos in their tournament Friday (Sept. 5) as Bethany no-hit Class B Carney, 10-0.
With the win, the Bronchos earned a spot in the title game.
“I thought the girls did a pretty decent job, offensively,” Bethany coach Booker Blakley said via text. “(We) hit several balls very hard, some unfortunately were right at them which kept the game closer for a little bit longer than we would have hoped.”
Bethany only had one run after two innings thanks to two Carney double plays but the Bronchos blew open a 4-0 lead with six runs in the fourth inning for the run-rule win. Broncho batters walked five times and had three singles in the big inning.
Eight Bronchos each had a hit in the win, including seniors Berkley Johnson, Madison Bibbs, Paige Sechrist, Jayda Davis, juniors Jules Barger, Grey Williamson, Ella Davis and freshman Rian Rollins.
Barger and Rollins had doubles. Freshman Avery Bibbs stole two bases as a pinch runner.
Jayda Davis tossed a four-inning no-hitter. She walked one batter and struck out five.
“Very solid day pitching and fielding,” Blakley said. “Allowing zero runs over the last three games has been a big positive for us.”
