WASHINGTON — Bethany dropped the final game of the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament to 3A Alva, 1-0, Saturday (Aug. 22).

“Tough one to get away from us,” Bethany coach Booker Blakley said via text. “Another great day in the circle from both of our pitchers and very solid day defensively.”

Senior Jayda Davis scattered five hits over four innings. She walked one and struck out two batters. Fellow senior Paige Sechrist allowed one hit in the final three innings. She also struck out two.

Bethany did not commit an error in the loss.

Senior Madison Bibbs went 3-for-3 on the day. Junior Ella Davis had the Bronchos’ only other hit, going to 1-for-2. Broncho batters walked four times.

“(We) just have to be able to put a few hits together and with some more timely hitting hopefully break through in some of these close games,” Blakley said.

The Bronchos finish the tournament with a 2-3 record.

“A lot of good competition this weekend in this tournament and hopefully we can grow from it and get better going forward,” Blakley said.
