OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite outhitting Edmond North, Putnam City North dropped a 6-3 decision to the Huskies Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Oklahoma Christian Shootout.

Edmond North broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning.

Trailing 3-0 in the first inning, North mounted a rally. Sophomore Savannah Martinez doubled seniors Kylee Smith and Monica Coats home. Junior Sayda Stevenson drove Martinez in with a single to right field.

In the fourth, Edmond North took the lead with an error, double and a groundout.

Monica Coats finished 3-for-3. Martinez and fellow sophomore Kayla Orton each went 2-for-3. The Lady Panthers outhit their opponent, 8-6.

Stevenson got the loss after pitching 4 2/3 innings in relief. She allowed four hits and two earned runs. Stevenson walked two batters and struck out four.

The Lady Panthers (7-21) travel to Shawnee (5-17) Monday (Oct. 7). First pitch is at 4 p.m.
