WARR ACRES – Lawton MacArthur scored five runs in the seventh inning to beat Putnam City on the Lady Pirates’ “Senior Night,” 6-3, Friday (Oct. 4).

PC took the lead in the first inning. Sophomore Samantha Tidmore singled with one out. She advanced to third base and scored on fellow sophomore Madi Gossman’s single to center field.

Mac tied the game 1-1 in the second inning, taking advantage of an error.

In the third inning, junior Dahlia Hickerson singled and scored on after sophomore Maece Bourbonnais reached on an error. Sophomore Elizabeth Lawon pinch ran for Bourbonnais and scored on Gossman’s triple to right field to give Original a 3-1 lead.

It stayed that way until the seventh inning. Mac scored five runs on one hit, two walks and three errors.

Bourbonnais took the loss despite striking out nine batters and allowing only three hits. Of the six runs she gave up, none were earned.

In all, the Lady Pirates committed 11 errors.

Tidmore and Gossman each finished 2-for-3. Hickerson added a 1-for-4 day.

UP NEXT

Putnam City (7-23) begins the 6A Regional 8 playoffs Thursday (Oct. 10) by playing host Ponca City (24-6). First pitch is at 12 p.m.. Other teams in the regional are Bartlesville (25-10) and Edmond North (10-16).
