CHICKASHA – The Putnam City North bats went silent in both games of the Chickasha Festival Friday (Sept. 27).

North senior Angel Franklin scattered four hits over seven innings. Franklin struck out eight batters.

The Lady Panthers’ offense mustered two hits with seniors Raya Shawareb and Kylee Smith each singling.

An error in the sixth inning led Marlow’s lone run.

“Angel Franklin did a good job. Defense played good,” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said. “We just couldn’t get that run in and one error cost us.”

North’s offense remained stuck while host Chickasha scored four runs each in the first and second innings for the win.

Franklin and Smith had the Lady Panthers’ only hits.

North committed three errors North starter Jayda Stevenson walked three batters in Chickasha’s big first inning.

“We just come out flat and just could never get over that hump and produce runs.

“You don’t produce runs. You don’t win,” Mitchell said.

The Lady Panthers travel to Southmoore Monday (Sept. 30) at 6:30 p.m.

Mitchell is hoping his team can break out of their funk.

“Our main problem is not producing runs,” Mitchell said. “When you’re not swinging as well, you’ve got to manufacture it somehow, bunts or something, and we just can’t execute.”

“At practice we look good, we hit every day, and I just think when they get out in front of the crowd, or in front of their peers, or in front of their parents, I think they just, for some reason they just freeze up,” Mitchell said. “I feel like I’ve got two different teams, I’ve got a team that I see at practice, and I have a team I see at the game.”
