
MUSTANG — Mustang scored eight runs in the third inning en route to a 10-1 win over Putnam City West Tuesday (April 28) in the 6A-1 finale for both teams.
The Broncos’ big inning featured three hits, three hit batsmen, two walks and two errors.
The Patriots scored a run in the top of the first inning. Sophomores Malachi Ferguson and Cadence Smith were both hit by a pitch. Senior Ezequiel Hernandez notched an infield single to load the bases. Ferguson later scored on a wild pitch.
Smith had West’s other hit in the loss. West batters walked four times and struck out 10 times.

Putnam City West (10-15, 2-10) finishes up 6A-1 play by hosting a doubleheader with U.S. Grant (3-18, 0-12) Thursday (April 30) at 5 p.m.
