PONCA CITY — Putnam City North gave up a 4-0 lead, allowing five runs over the final two innings of a 5-4 loss to A-2 seventh-ranked Drummond Thursday (April 23) at the Ponca City Festival.

North struck first in the third inning after senior Xayvion Jones reached on an error and fellow senior Austin Guerrero. Jones went to third and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field from senior Reece Hubble. Guerrero later scored on a groundout.

A leadoff error in the fifth inning led to two runs. Guerrero reached, Hubble singled and another error scored Guerrero. Senior Gavin Lang singled and Jeffrey Brown ran for senior Xavier Sarkey.

Brown scored on a groundout by senior Robert Marcy.

The Bulldogs tied the game in the sixth with two singles, a double and a North error.

In the bottom of the seventh, Drummond loaded the bases with a pair of singles and and an intentional walk to make it a force out at any base.

On a 1-2 pitch, Sarkey hit Bulldog junior Aiden Edwards for the walkoff win.

Lang had a 3-for-3 day. North also got hits from Jones, Guerrero, Hubble, seniors JaQuari Dansby, Owen Attebery and junior Devin Orton.

Lang started the game on the mound for the Panthers and threw two scoreless innings. He allowed one hit.

Sarkey took the loss. He struck out four batters.

North (3-24) plays at Ponca City (10-18) Friday (April 24) at 6:30 p.m.

The Wildcats fell to Drummond later in the day 1-0 and also suffered a 7-0 loss to Life Prep (Kan.).
