DEL CITY — Despite two home runs from senior Akin Aguillard, Western Heights suffered a 16-8 loss to Destiny Christian Monday (April 20).

Aguillard hit a two-run shot over the left field wall in the fifth inning. The homer scored senior Connor Logsdon, who led off the inning with a single. That cut the Destiny Christian lead to 5-4.

The Wildcats extended the lead to 8-4 in the bottom half of the inning.

In the sixth inning, Aguillard hit a grand slam to tie the game at 8-8. Junior Austin Carlson, senior Keziah Howell and freshman Tyler Edmiston scored.

Destiny Christian sealed the win in the sixth inning, capped off by a three-run homer from junior Ethan Hill.

Aguillard finished with a 3-for-4 day and seven runs batted in.

Edmiston, Logsdon, sophomore J.J. Bradley and Carlson each had hits.

The Wildcats used five pitchers in the win. They combined to earn seven strikeouts.

UP NEXT

Western Heights (4-13, 0-10) travels to 4A-1 leader Mount Saint Mary (21-6, 10-0) for a doubleheader Tuesday (April 21).

The Rockets lost twice Friday. Sulphur won 7-6 and Davis had a 10-9 victory.
