
WARR ACRES — Class 4A power Mount Saint Mary had three home runs and the Putnam City bats were largely silent in a 18-2 loss Thursday (April 9) at the Northwest Optimist Darrel Palmer Classic.
The Rockets scored eight runs in the first inning, capped off by an inside-the-park homer by junior Miles Stanley. Fellow junior Jefferson Hodge homered in the third inning to make it 12-2 and junior Rylan Kuklinski homered to lead off the fourth inning.
The Pirates picked up two runs in the bottom of the first. Freshman Dylan Grigsby and senior Justin Knight walked. Senior Brandon Bennett lined a single to left field to load the bases.
After a strikeout, junior Jared Potter walked in a run. Following another strikeout, junior Chase Guethle singled to left for another run.
PC had three more walks, a hit batsman but didn’t record another hit in the loss.
The Rockets had nine hits, walked eight times and were hit by two pitches.
