OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City North lost to Muskogee twice Monday (March 30) in a 6A-4 doubleheader.

The Panthers built an 8-6 lead entering the seventh inning when the Roughers scored seven runs for the win.

Muskogee had five singles, two doubles and a two-run home run by junior Owen Gilliam for the win.

Earlier, North had an answer after each Rougher rally. Trailing 3-0, the Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, keyed by an RBI-triple from senior Xavier Sarkey.

After Muskogee added a run in the second inning, senior Owen Attebery doubled to center field in the third inning. That scored two runs for a 5-4 North lead.

The Roughers retook the lead in the fourth inning and the Panthers tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning on two walks, a single and an RBI-groundout by senior Austin Guerrero.

In the sixth inning, North took an 8-6 lead with singles from seniors Quincy Robinson, Xayvion Jones and a squeeze play bunt from Sarkey.

Attebery was 3-for-3 with a double. Junior Treague Ferguson was 2-for-4 and Jones went 2-for-4 with a triple. Guerrero, Robinson, Sarkey and junior Devin Orton each had a hit.

Muskogee had 19 hits in and Rougher senior Avery Browning was 5-for-5.

The Panthers struggled after loading the bases and scoring a run in the first inning.

The Panthers were held to a three hits and committed four errors.

Guerrero had a double. Senior Reece Hubble and Attebery each had a single.

Muskogee had 12 hits and walked six times.

Putnam City North (2-12) travels to Norman (2-9) Thursday (April 2) at 5 p.m. for a non-district game.
