BETHANY — Bethany junior Connor Sydnes had a 3-for-4 day at the plate and struck out nine batters while on the mound in a 14-4 rout of 5A El Reno Friday (March 27) at the Bryson Cael Memorial Festival.

Sydnes drove in three runs with two singles and a groundout.

On the mound, he allowed four hits and four runs. Sydnes walked three batters. A walk and a single led to an El Reno run in the third inning. A walk and a single in the fourth inning set the stage for a 3-run home run from Matthew Velarde, his only blemishes.

By then,the Bronchos had a comfortable lead after scoring in every inning, including seven runs in the third.

Junior Brody McLaren went 2-for-2, scored three times and drove in a run. Fellow junior Cooper Willis was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Willis had a double.

Junior Ozzie brown, freshman Jayden Rose and sophomore Cooper Suarez each had a hit.

The Bronchos also took advantage of nine walks from El Reno pitching.

UP NEXT

On Saturday, Bethany (6-4) travels to 6A Putnam City (2-12) on the final day of the Cael Festival.

The Pirates earned a 5-4 win over A1 Southwest Covenant Friday.
