WARR ACRES — El Reno broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning for a 5-4 win over Putnam City Thursday (March 26) at the Bryson Cael Memorial Festival.

The Pirates used walks and an error to score a run in the first inning. The Indians answered with three runs in the second and another run in the fourth due to an error.

The Pirates tied the game in the fifth with three singles and two El Reno errors. Senior Justin Knight’s 2-run double made it 4-4.

In the sixth inning, three straight walks with one out led to a sacrifice fly from freshman Ryker Crain, which score the go-ahead run.

PC loaded the bases in the bottom half of inning on three Indian errors but were unable to score in the loss.

Senior Mitchell Taylor went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Junior Bryson Vanover, Knight, seniors Henry Thein and Brandon each had hits. Thein and Knight had a doubles.

Sophomore MJ Petties stole three bases.

Senior Judd Quanstrom pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up six hits. Quanstrom allowed five runs but only one was earned. He walked seven and struck out three. Knight got the final two outs in the sixth inning with one strikeout.

Putnam City (1-11) hosts A-1 Southwest Covenant (8-3) Friday (March 27) at 6:30 p.m. in the Bryson Cael Memorial Festival.

The SWC Patriots opened the festival with a 27-3 rout of 2A Frederick on Thursday.
