
TUTTLE — Bethany scored six runs in the final two innings Saturday (March 21) but fell to Elgin, 10-6, at the Tuttle Spring Break Festival.
The Owls (8-0) scored four runs each in the first and third innings, taking advantage of timely hits and 11 walks.
In the fourth inning, the Bronchos (2-4) took advantage of a flurry of free passes for a five-run inning. Bethany batters walked five times in the inning. The Bronchos also had two hit batsmen.
Bethany threatened in the fifth inning, after junior Connor Sydnes had a leadoff single. Sophomore Cooper Suarez doubled to right field. Junior Damyen Aguilar and senior Trip Williams walked to score a run.
Elgin senior Kyler Owen slammed the door with two strikeouts to end the game.
Sydnes, Suarez and Williams had the Bronchos’ hits. In all, Bethany batters walked seven times. Williams also had a stolen base.
The Bronchos’ four pitchers allowed eight hits and struck out two batters.

Bethany (2-4, 2-0) begins a 4A-3 series by hosting Pauls Valley (1-7, 0-4) Monday (March 23) at 5 p.m. The Bronchos will play at Pauls Valley on Tuesday.
The Panthers fell, 2-1, to A1 Thomas Wednesday in the Southeast Shootout.
