Putnam City traveled to Arizona for four games in the Best of the West Baseball Tournament in the Phoenix area Monday and Tuesday. (March 16-17).

PHOENIX —The Pirates didn’t have a baserunner in the four-inning perfect game. The 4A Sabercats scored seven runs in the fourth inning and had 12 hits.

PHOENIX — Lake Havasu, a 5A school, score nine runs in the third inning in the run-rule win.
Pirate senior Mitchell doubled in the first inning. He reached base in the third inning on a dropped third strike. Taylor sprinted to second base on a passed ball and later scored on a groundout from fellow senior Henry Thein.
Jordan Thomas also had a single in the loss. PC committed seven errors. Pirate pitching walked six batters in the loss.

PHOENIX — Sophomore MJ Petties went 3-for-4 but a five-run fifth inning from the 6A Pioneers was too much for Putnam City.
Juniors Bryson Vanover, Jared Potter and Chase Guethle each had a hit. Potter scored both of the Pirates’ runs.
Senior Justin Knight struck out nine batters over six innings.
