WARR ACRES — Putnam City picked up its first win Friday (March 6) with an 11-1 blowout win over Northwest Classen.

“It was a good opportunity to gain some confidence,” Putnam City coach Joseph Wood said via text. “The boys have worked really hard and seeing them have success was good. We have rest up and get everyone back for a tough one on Monday.”

The Pirates banged out 12 hits in the win.

Sophomore shortstop MJ Petties went 3-for-3 with a triple and two home runs.

Petties scored three times and drove in three runs.

Fellow sophomore Damon Hopkins went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Senior Justin Knight and sophomore Gabe Krueger each went 2-for-2. Both had doubles. Knight homered, scored three times and drove in a run. Krueger scored once and batted in two runs.

Seniors Mitchell Taylor, Brandon Bennett and Judd Quanstrom each had a hit.

Senior Austin Clifton pitched all four innings. He allowed three hits, an unearned run and three walks. Clifton struck out four batters.

UP NEXT

Putnam City (1-3) opens 2-game District 6A-3 series with Stillwater Monday (March 9) on the road at 5 p.m. They’ll play at Original Tuesday.

On Friday, The Pioneers (2-1) thumped Tahlequah, 15-0.
