YUKON — Putnam City West senior Kobe Gaffney ended his regional drought in dominant fashion, qualifying for the 6A State Championships at 138 pounds.

After finishing in sixth place—just one spot shy of state—for the past two seasons, the No. 4 seeded Gaffney went 3-1 at 6A West Regional Friday and Saturday (Feb. 20-21). He racked up two falls and a technical fall. Gaffney officially punched his ticket to the season’s final weekend with a fall in the consolation finals to secure a third-place regional finish.
