OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City North’s senior class played their final regular season game Friday (Feb. 20), matching up with rival Putnam City.

While some in this group of seniors haven’t been at North the entire three-year span, the game resembled many of the Panthers’ previous games on Rockwell Avenue with punishing defense and a lot of points.

North turned the Battle of the Expressway into a rout with a 90-7 win over the Pirates.

The suffocating defense started right after senior Makiya Moore scored the game’s first points off the Panthers controlling the tip.

North forced the Pirates into turnover after turnover. At first, the Pirates couldn’t get the ball across midcourt. Original managed to get it across midcourt after a couple of minutes of game time, but PC didn’t get a shot off until the 4:15 mark in the first quarter.

North took advantage and sprinted off to a 21-0 lead.

Pirate freshman D’Najah Jarrell broke Putnam City’s dry spell by hitting the back end of two free throws at the 3:16 mark of the opening quarter.

From there, it was more of the same. Fans rooted a 100-point performance and North coach Logan Martin cycled player after player in from the bench into the game. There were 11 Panthers who scored at least a point in the win.

The Pirates scored six more points in the first half but were held scoreless for the entire second half.

As you might expect, the Panther seniors provided a bulk of the points.

Jayla Constant scored a game-high 19 points. The UNLV signee had four rebounds, two assists and five steals. Makiya Moore added 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Paige Williams had 14 points, two assists and four steals. Da’Nae Jefferson had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Tehlia Kutsoati and Kiana Gray each scored seven points. Kutsoati also had four steals. Gray had two rebounds, an assist and two steals.

For the Pirates, Jarrell scored five points. Sophomore Jordan Kirk also had a bucket.

North’s last loss at home was on Nov. 28, 2023 when Edmond North, then 6A’s top-ranked team and ended up as the state runner-up, opened the season with a 49-29 win over the Panthers. Since then, the Panthers have reeled off 24 straight wins on their home floor.
