BETHANY — Bethany junior Malachi Chatman scored 24 points and the Bronchos wrapped up Western Athletic conference play with a 70-37 win over Clinton Thursday (Feb. 12).

“Malachi was phenomenal tonight.” Bethany coach Josh Holliday said via text. “He was in attack mode from the jump. I’m proud of him and his ability to seize his moments when they arise.”

Chatman hit five 3-pointers in the win.

“We shot the cover off the basketball!” Holliday said. “I still would like us to compete a little more on the defensive end but we showed some really good spurts in the second half.

“Of course it’s hard to be mature and continue to have intensity on defense when you make a bunch of threes but that is the maturity we talk about everyday.”

As a team, 11th-ranked Bethany connected on 12 treys in the win,

The Bronchos held the Red Tornadoes to single digit scoring in the both the first and second quarter.

Sophomore Braylen Wright added 10 points, all in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Dempsey Neal and senior Seth Greiner each had eight points. Neal sank a 3-pointer and Greiner hit two treys.
