DUNCAN — Bethany junior Camryn Regier scored 24 points and the Bronchos thumped Cache, 62-15, Friday (Dec. 12) to send Bethany to title game of the Southern Oklahoma Invitational.

Regier connected on 8 of 20 shots. She hit 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Regier added five assists, seven rebounds and eight steals.

As a team, the Bronchos shot 42 percent from the field and drilled 5 of 9 shots from the 3-point line. Bethany struggled from the free throw line, hitting 11-of-20. The Bronchos turned the ball over 14 times, down from 24 the day before,

“We are doing a better job of limiting our turnovers,” Bethany coach Eric Sailer said via text. “We still need to learn to make better decisions with the ball and we all know it!

“Much better job of blocking out, although we gave up a free throw rebound,” Sailer said.

Junior Ali Linn collected 10 points the win. Linn had four assists, eight rebounds and a steal

Sophomore Kamryn Donley added nine points. Donley hit 4-of-6 from the field. She also had four rebounds and two steals.

Senior Maddison McNutt followed with eight points on 3-of-5 shooting. McNutt had two assists, three rebounds and three steals.

The Bethany (3-1) defense held Cache to 19 percent shooting. The Bulldogs turned the ball over 28 times. The Bronchos had 19 steals.

UP NEXT

Bethany faces Elgin Saturday (Dec. 13) at 10 a.m. for the tournament title.

On Friday, the Owls beat Lawton Eisenhower, 64-50.

The Bethany/Elgin matchup was moved from its usual night slot to the morning due to Elgin’s football team competing for the 4A state football title Saturday night.

The Bethany junior varsity meets host Duncan at 1 p.m. Saturday.
