MIDWEST CITY — Putnam City North earned the Oklahoma 7 Conference volleyball title Saturday (Oct. 4).

Putnam City North coach Bryan Mosley said that the tournament “was an intense and satisfying 2-day tournament.”

“There was great execution and effort by every player,” Mosely said via email. “I was and always will be extremely proud of this team!”

On Friday, the Panthers were in a 4-team pool with Putnam City West, Midwest City and Ponca City.

North finished second in the pool with wins over West and Midwest City. Ponca City beat the Panthers, 2-0 (25-14, 25-17).

On Saturday, the Panthers upended Choctaw (the winner of the other pool), 2-1 (14-25, 25-19, 15-10).

The win set up a rematch with Ponca City for the championship

North lost the first set, 25-20, but rebounded to win the last two sets, 25-13 and 15-11.

“The last two sets of that match were the best sets I’ve seen our team play all season,” Mosley said. “Something clicked!  The focus, positivity, effort, & energy (especially from the bench!) all came together harmoniously.

“The entire PCN family was in sync.  We were all positive, determined, focused, & LOUD! We sustained that harmonious energy ’til the last point. From the parents in the stands to the scorekeepers on the floor!  On that afternoon at that match, we were all one!!!”
