OKLAHOMA CITY — Ponca City spoiled Putnam City North’s homecoming Friday (Oct. 3) with a 56-35 win in a 6A-II District 2 matchup.
The Panthers fell to 1-4 and 1-1 in district play despite two big offensive performances.
Senior Terry Wilson, Jr. racked up 188 yards on 15 carries with two first-half scores. Junior Charlie Bowie added two touchdown catches. Bowie had nine total catches for 98 yards.
Bowie’s first touchdown catch gave North momentum just before halftime and cut the deficit to two touchdowns, 35-21.
The Wildcats (3-2, 1-1) answered with a drive that lasted 7:40 to begin the second half, culminating in a score.
The Panthers cut Ponca’s lead to just one score with 7:10 left in the game when senior Ryan Harris recovered a bad snap on a Wildcat punt and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown. That scored made it 41-35.
North’s offense couldn’t get back into gear and Ponca City added two late scores to seal the win.

The Panthers travel to winless Capitol Hill (0-5, 0-2) next Friday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m.
The Redwolves were routed by Sand Springs, 70-0, Friday.
