BETHANY — The Bronchos are one win away from advancing to the Class 4A Super Regional after scoring 25 runs and only allowing a one run in wins over Anadarko and Byng Thursday (Oct. 2).

BETHANY 12, ANADARKO 0

The rout started early for Bethany with two triples, a double, two singles, two walks and two Anadarko errors for a six-run first inning. The Bronchos scored six more runs in the third inning.

“It was a great way to get to the day started,” Bethany coach Booker Blakley said via text. ” The girls did not allow the opponent’s record to keep them from being locked in from the start.”

The loss dropped Anadarko to 0-29.

The Bronchos got hits from senior Madison Bibbs, freshman Macy Bibbs, junior Jules Barger, freshman Rian Rollins, juniors Ella Davis, Emma Geissler, seniors Emma Buxton, Maddison McNutt and freshman Lydia Greiner.

Buxton, Ella Davis, Madison Bibbs and Macy Bibbs each had a double. Geissler and Rollins had triples.

“We were also able to get a lot of players an opportunity in playoffs which is always something great to see.”

Senior Jayda Davis tossed a three-inning no-hitter. The lone baserunner for the Warriors was a batter hit by a pitch to lead off the second inning. Jayda Davis struck out seven batters.

“Jayda did a great job in the circle, not giving up anything free,” Blakley said.

Despite the lopsided score, Bethany had to deal with adversity early in the contest.

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead after Riley Colbert doubled to lead off the inning. She moved to third base on a sacrifice fly and Kenlzey Parker singled her in for the early lead.

“Super proud of the girls for how they came out,” Blakley said. “We got punched in the mouth a little bit to start the game when we gave up our run.”

From there, senior Paige Sechrist shut Byng down with some help from her defense.

Senior Berkley Johnson made a diving catch in left field to end a 1-2-3 second inning .

“That was a great jolt to the team and their energy.”

Meanwhile, the Bethany offense had produced baserunners over the first two innings but couldn’t get a run across the plate.

“I thought we hit the ball really well. Even our outs were hard hits. We always talk about putting pressure on people. Thought we definitely did that today.”

The pressure finally got to Byng in the third inning.

The Bronchos unloaded two doubles, four singles and three walks. Bethany also took advantage of an error to score eight runs.

Bethany added five more runs in the fourth inning with three doubles and a walk. The Pirates also committed two errors in the inning.
