
OKLAHOMA CITY — A week after Santa Fe South beat Putnam City West in a slugfest, the Patriots returned the favor with a 17-14 win Tuesday (Sept. 30).
West trailed, 14-11, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Patriots tied the game at 14-14 on four walks and a hit by pitch.
Reggan Amador lined a singled to right field to score Taniya Johnson and break the tie. The Patriots walked one more time and were hit one more time and took a 16-14 lead. Shelby Taylor stole home to make it 17-14.
Jazmyne Thomas worked around a double in the top of the seventh for the win.
Thomas struck out 10 batters in the complete-game win. Of the 14 runs she allowed, only four were earned due to five West errors.
The Patriots walked 18 times in the contest. Thomas was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Kaydence Lopez finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, and four runs scored.
Amador added a 2-for-3 performance. She drove in three runs.
Finally, Johnson was 1-for-1 with four walks, three runs scored and an RBI.
