LAWTON — Putnam City North’s late-season surge continued as the Panthers swept a doubleheader from Lawton Eisenhower, 9-6 and 10-3, Friday (Sept. 26).

“Another great team win and we stayed locked in from yesterday!” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said via text. “I’m so proud of them.”

Junior Presley Standridge homered, drove in four runs in a 3-for-4 performance as North broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth inning for the win.

Junior Savannah Martinez added a 3-for-5 day with two doubles and two RBIS.

Another junior, Kayla Orton was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Sophomore Kayleigh Andrews, junior Laila Willoby-Taylor, senior Jayda Stevenson and senior Mikala Coats each had a hit. Willoby-Taylor and Coats each drove in a run.

In the circle, Stevenson struck out 11 batters in 5 1/3 innings of relief. She scattered three hits and allowed two runs.

The Panthers scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. North took advantage of five walks, two batters hit by a pitch and a single in the rally.

Orton went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Standridge, freshman Amaya Frazier and Coats each had a hit and each drove in two runs.

Standridge tossed two innings to get the win in the shortened game. She allowed three hits and a run. Standridge struck out one batter.
