MIDWEST CITY — Carl Albert scored five touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 59-0 rout of Western Heights Friday (Sept. 26).
Of the five scores in the opening quarter, two came directly off turnovers by the Jets. The running clock started late in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Titans got called for 2 or 3 holding calls in a series. That pushed them back and they faced a third down-and-47. Carl Albert didn’t convert that and they punted.
The Jet offense spent most of its time on the field in the shadow of the goal line, but Western Heights got near midfield in the third quarter when a botched handoff by the Titan backups was recovered by the Jets.
The offense stalled and turned the ball over on downs.
Late in the fourth quarter, Western Heights earned its second first down when freshman Kenan Towa connected with a receiver on a screen pass to get back to midfield.
