WARR ACRES — Putnam City swept a doubleheader with U.S. Grant Monday (Sept. 22).

Junior Tess Goodner hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning which proved to be the difference in the 4-3 win.

Goodner was 1-for-3 with three runs batted in.

Freshman D’Najah Jarrell and junior Addison Grier each went 2-for-2. Jarrell had a double and an RBI. Grier stole a base.

Junior Alexandra Hatlelid, Goodner and junior Cadence O’Dell-Brown each had hits.

Goodner struck out eight batters over five innings. She allowed five hits and two earned runs. Goodner walked four.

Original scored five runs in each inning of the three-inning run-rule win.

Goodner and senior Dahlia Hickerson each raked, both going 3-for-3. Hickerson’s three hits were all doubles and she drove in three runs. Goodner had a triple and a double. She had two runs batted in.

Grier, O’Dell-Brown, junior Natalie Luevano and Kaylee Rivera each had a hit. Grier and Luevano both had doubles.

Hatlelid was 1-for-2 with a triple.

Jarrell, Grier, junior Payton Grigsby, Luevano and Rivera each drove in a run.

The Pirates had 16 hits in the win.

In the circle, Goodner allowed three hits in three innings. Only one of the three runs she allowed was earned. Goodner walked two batters and struck out two.

Putnam City plays its final 6A-4 game Tuesday (Sept. 23) at Piedmont (18-10, 7-1). The Pirates are 0-10 in district play.

The Wildcats routed Jenks, 12-2, Monday.
