OKLAHOMA CITY — Western Heights sophomore Jalesa Asimba struck out 12 batters in the Jets’ 18-3 rout of Santa Fe South Tuesday (Sept. 12).

Asimba scattered four hits over five innings. She allowed three runs, one of which was earned. Asimba walked one batter.

At the plate, Western Heights poured in 14 hits. Leading 6-3 entering the fourth inning, the Jets scored 12 runs over the final two innings for the five-inning run-rule win.

Abbie Bise was 3-for-4 with a double, four runs scored and an run batted in. Asimba was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a RBI. Aracena Martin was 2-for-2 with a double, four runs scored and three RBIs.

Khamiyah Laster’s inside-the-park home run highlighted a 2-for-2 performance with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Ann-Marie Bohnstedt followed with a 2-for-3 day. Bohnstedt scored twice and drove in a run.

Senior Raelynn Frost was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a couple of RBIs. Abby Castillo added and Natalia MartinezVazquez each were 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

UP NEXT

Western Heights travels to 6A U.S. Grant for the All-City Athletic Conference (ACAC) Softball Tournament Thursday and Friday (Sept. 18-19).

The Jets open the tournament with host U.S. Grant, Thursday at 11 a.m.

The Generals are 16-3 and are riding an eight-game winning streak. Grant swept a doubleheader with Tulsa Will Rogers, 15-0 and 15-2, Tuesday.
