WARR ACRES — Putnam City West got out to a big lead and had to hold on Putnam City marched back in a 29-24 contest Monday (Sept. 15).

The teams combined for 53 runs, 24 hits and 10 errors.

West scored 13 runs in the third inning and had a 13-2 lead. Original stormed back with a 10-run fifth inning and trailed 19-18.

West had the final double digit inning, scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning. Even then, the Pirates scored six runs over the last two innings to cut the difference to five runs for the 29-24 score.

West’s Kaydence Lopez went 5-for-6 with three doubles, seven stolen bases, six runs scored and three runs batted in. Analicia Ramirez had a 1-for-2 day with a double, five stolen bases, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Mia Nevarez went 1-for-3 with four walks, eight stolen bases, four runs scored and four runs batted in. Tiarnee Johnson with a 1-for-1 day, two runs scored and a run batted in. She walked five times.

Reggan Amador was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, three stolen bases and two runs batted in.

Senior Jazymyne walked four times, stole five bases and scored five times.

Melody Whymann stoles four bases and scored three times.

In all, the Patriots stole 38 bases.They also walked 28 times. West had seven batters hit by a pitch.

Putnam City senior Dahlia Hickerson was 4-of-7 with a double, a triple, three stolen bases, three runs scored and four runs batted in.

Junior Madi Gossman and Tess Goodner were both 3-for-5. Gossman scored four times and drove in three runs. Goodner scored twice and had two RBIs.

Junior Cadence O’Dell-Brown finished 2-for-5 with a double, three stolen bases, three runs scored and two runs batted in.

Juniors Addison Grier, Natalie Luevano and Kamya Haynes each had a hit.

PC batters walked eight times and stole 12 bases.Original had five batters hit by a pitch.
